Welcome to my website.
I’ve set up this website, for people who want to know a little more about me and read my write ups, that appeared in papers, magazines.
I am afraid many of you may be disappointed. I don’t do extreme sports, I am not a hi-tech buff, I am not a secret expert on 18th-century maps, and I don’t even do gardening. Unless you are mainly interested in literature and my essays, the only thing that is interesting on this website would be the section, ‘I like to read’ under ‘Influences’ and Gallery, where I have photos of every places in Nepal I have been to.
Still, please enjoy the site. It would be at least more informative and interesting than me if you have personally met me.

A boy with an undeterred passion
All through that morning, the villagers were listening to a government officer, the first official to step in their village. All of a sudden, they hear a loud scream; they turn around to find a small boy screaming and pointing above to a small object, twinkling in the sky. The boy seemed excited, " Look look, it’s the 'Chilgadi' (roughly translated as ‘Eagle-car’), Lord Indra is traveling, lets pray." The boy immediately bows in respect to Lord Indra and the Chilgadi. All the villagers listening to the officer bow in an instance towards the Chilgadi and ask for blessings. "What is this?" The officer asked, "What are you all doing?" A villager stood up and said, "Can't you see that Lord Indra is traveling in the sky? Don't you have any respect to our Gods and Goddesses?" The officer was awestruck by the ignorance of those villagers. He calmly said, "That’s just an aero plane, people like us are traveling on the plane. It's just a plane that 'Science' has given." ....

THE GHOST SAGA
"Yes, there is ghost!" he says, "We are praying to Gods and Goddesses in every nook and cranny of the valley and why shouldn't we believe in ghosts?" Dinesh Chitrakar, who has been selling newspapers and magazines for a long time in New Road believes in God and believes in ghosts too. "Ghosts and Gods are the two sides of a coin," he says, "The same thing is God when one does good and the same thing is ghost when one does wrong.” Last Monday the traffic of New Road was out of control and hundreds of people gathered at the Pipal Bot area to look at a "haunted" house, beside the entrance of Ranjana Galli. The only thing that the people were looking into was the rumor that a ghost slapped a journalist and threw him from third floor of the four-storey grey-colored house. "I was also slapped three times," Dinesh says, "I was slapped in my cheeks when I went to the floor." He adds, "But I was perhaps slapped by a police when I intervened the ongoing research." He then laughs for....

The Madhes woes
The call for "One Madhes, one pradesh" was one of the significant factors for the formation of government after the Constitutional Assembly election. The Madhes leaders who wanted themselves flow along with the people in the Tarai were claiming that they would split Madhes from Nepal so that their rights are guaranteed and they would escape all chanced of getting paralyzed by other areas of Nepal. This was one of the easy ways for the leaders to gain a short-term popularity from the people in the area. It's clear beyond doubt that the Madhes area was always under shadow and was dominated by the Himalayan region in the former days. Different literary metaphors and symbols were derivations of activities and day-to-day habits of the Hilly regions. When one said life is with ups and downs as in hills, the Madhes people would have been awestruck. This is to mean that the Madhes people were deprived of so called facilities in previous days as it was with the people in the ....

The Narrative of borderland
When Nayan Raj Pandey was in his mid teens, his father, a schoolteacher, decided he should study science. Pandey had to struggle with his father who harbored the belief that Pandey should not be a writer. One day, his father got his diary full of poems. "What is this? What are you writing?" He asked. "Poems," Pandey said softly. He lowered his head meekly only to see torn pages of his diary on the floor. "I was shocked, terrified and tongueless. The first manuscript of my life was torn into pieces," Pandey remembers. The decision his parents made to send him to Kathmandu for higher studies was "a cool decision," Pandey recalls. "When I came to Kathmandu to pursue my higher studies, I started meeting poets and other writers," Pandey remembers, "The zeal for seeing my name printed in magazines made me a writer." Although his father did not want him to be a writer, his mother was in his favor. "Well," his mother said, "you can write but don’t forget to score well in exams too.....

A coercive debate
Though two student unions, NSU and NSU-Democratic – student wing of Nepali Congress – merged after the unification of the mother parties in 2004, the new NSU was dissolved citing its inactiveness and intra-organization rift. When Sushil Koirala the President of the mother party of one of the unions announced to dissolve the union, it created a fuss in the party's political arena. NC had formed a committee led by its central member Prakash Man Singh to look into different disputes within the NC's sister wings. Singh submitted his proposal to dissolve the wing, along with NSU. Ever since the disseverment of NSU, student leaders opposed the decision and challenged to form a new parallel committee, jeopardizing all initiatives to towards unification of the mother party. But, these cries went under shadow till the party formed a new 101-member committee. It was NSU leaders ideologically close to Sherbahadur Deuba demanding the dissolution of the NSU executive, citing the reason ....

Want a second party?
Watching the Maoist Party struggle for presidential berth and system, the Nepalese people have started wondering whether the government formed for restoration of peace and drafting constitution will come to a success, or just pass this year as well. This is analogous to a situation wherein we are given a word puzzle to solve. All we need to do is pick up letters and arrange them. But at the end when we find the “word” meaningless, we start arranging the letters afresh again. And again if the word turns out to be meaningless, we again throw our letters back and hope to pick up better ones to work with. This is what we the Nepalese voters seem to be doing. The political parties are seen back to the pile and we people chose one of them and keep coming up with words that spell nothing. There's a reason for that: the Parties’ pile is out of date, and recently this is what we have been facing. And there are some strong points to support this. The parties calling them....
